What Is the Purpose of the LogMAR Eye-Test?

This logMAR type eye-test has been designed for the purpose of visual acuity testing at a 2.5-metre distance. The chart consists of 14 lines of 5 Sloan optotype letters each, which decrease in size as they go down the page.

What Does the Design Being Revised Mean?

This revised design has been developed from an ETDRS study, which involved the examination of 7420 eyes. Revisions of the original chart design include:

• A rearrangement of the letters from the original chart design
• The difficulty score for the letters included on this chart have also been changed
• The original chart is suitable for low-vision testing and clinical studies sponsored by the American National Eye Institute, this revised chart design is not
