This test is made up of rows of 5 Sloan optotype letters each, which decrease in size as you go down the chart. What Is the Function of the Original LogMAR Eye-Test?

The purpose of this chart is to enable the assessment and measurement of various patients' visual acuity levels, i.e., how clearly they can see shapes across a given distance. This original ETDRS LogMAR chart design consists of rows of 5 Sloan optotype letters which gradually decrease in size, and is also suitable for low vision testing, and use in a range of clinical studies.

To use this chart, patients are asked to identify and read aloud the various letters presented in order, beginning with the largest at the top of the chart.
