What Is the Function of the LogMAR Eye-Test?

The ETDRS logMAR chart is an eye-test used to assess a patient's visual acuity, or their clarity of vision in relation to distance. This style of eye-test includes lines of 5 Sloan optotype letters, with each row being smaller than the last. As well as visual acuity, the original design of this chart-type is suitable for low-vision assessment, and use in a range of clinical studies.

To conduct this test, patients should stand 2-metres away from the chart, and read aloud the letters in order.
