Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace

If your ankle injury has improved significantly and you feel you're just about ready to begin exercising again, the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace provides cushioning and additional support to get you back doing what you love. The Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace is designed for the second stage of recovery (i.e. when the injury has started to heal), as it allows you to gently back back to playing the sport you love with the correct level of support and cushioning.

How to correctly fit your Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace

  1. Unfasten the straps and open the brace, placing your foot inside whilst adjusting each side against your ankle
  2. Wrap the Achilles strap around the back of the ankle and secure in place
  3. Pull the larger "ATF cross-strap" around the back of the brace and secure against the ankle
  4. Adjust the position of the brace and put on your shoes, adjusting both straps until comfortable

For Which Ankle Sprain Grades Is the AirSport Ankle Brace?

Ankle sprains can differ in severity, and are generally categorised into one of three grades. The Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace is suitable for ankle sprain grades one and two, which can be identified as follows:

  • Ankle Sprain Grade 1: Sore ankle with slight swelling; your ligament may be overstretched
  • Ankle Sprain Grade 2: Prolonged pain and swelling; unable to bear weight on your injured ankle; some bruising from a partial ligament tear

If you feel you are suffering from one of the more severe ankle sprain grades, we would recommend you consult a doctor for advice. They will be able to provide you with the best plan for getting you back on your feet.

Can I Continue to Wear the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace After the Sprain Has Healed?

The Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace is designed to be worn once your injury has already started to heal, helping you to get back on your feet. If you would like to continue to support your ankle once the injury has fully healed, we recommend the Aircast A60 Ankle Support. This will help to prevent further injury to your ankle once you're fully recovered.

What If My Aircast AirSport Feels Tight?

If you have correctly followed our sizing guidance and fitting instructions, you should find that your AirSport Ankle Brace fits snugly around the ankle, providing support and stability without intruding on your instep or running motion. If your brace feels tight, simply adjust the ATF and Achilles straps located at the back of the brace, as shown in the image below:

Does the Ankle AirSport Brace Help With Ankle Rolling?

The AirSport is designed to bolster and enhance the strength of your ankle which maximises stability, preventing your ankle rolling when you run on hard and soft surfaces. Fitting inside a range of different styles of footwear, the AirSport keeps the ankle upright and in place inside your shoe, preventing rolling and instability at the ankle.

Can I Wear the Aircast AirSport Brace On Either Foot?

The universal nature of the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace means that it can be worn on either foot. This way it can be worn again at a later date should you receive an injury on either ankle.

Should Socks Be Worn with the AirSport Ankle Brace?

It is advised that a sock is worn underneath the AirSport Ankle Brace. This helps to ensure optimal comfort, protection, and support.

Which Shoes is the AirSport Suitable For?

When wearing the Aircast AirSport, we would recommend wearing shoes that have a loose design. It is also best to avoid boots and high-topped shoes if possible to ensure the highest level of comfort in wear. Please note that unless your shoes are extremely tight, you will not need to buy a bigger pair of shoes to accommodate the brace.

What Should I Do After I Take Off the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace?

After removing the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace, we recommend that you gently apply an ice pack to the area. This will feel soothing on your ankle and continue to help to reduce pain and swelling. What's the Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace Made Of?

The Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace is made from foam-filled aircells, with semi-rigid plastic stays either side of the aircells for added protection. These aircells add padding to the insides of the anatomically shaped stays, improving support without compromise to comfort. Additionally, there is a fabric coating on the brace to improve durability.

How Do I Clean the AirSport Ankle Brace?

The entire brace can be wiped down with lukewarm water and a mild soap. It should then be air dried; do not tumble dry.

When this product eventually arrived, it does exactly what it says on the tin. My daughter did significant damage to her ligaments in her ankle and this support has meant she has been able to come off the crutches.
Unfortunately, I had to chase the whereabouts of the product twice - I ordered it on the Sunday, it arrived the following Saturday - I don't think the description of 'Free Fast Delivery' is particularly accurate!

I did not keep this one. I bought four different ones and kept two, the bioskin and the stirrup, one for general and one for dog walking. This one had too much material and padding for my liking.

I have had a number of ankle braces (40years of amateur football) and this is by far the best. Great support, easy to wear, no rubbing. Well I am 57 and still playing that's got to be a solid recommendation.

I've found this brace to be very effective, comfortable even for long periods of time, and very easy to use.
My only concern is that the velcro is beginning to wear a bit after only a few weeks of daily use.

The Customer service is first rate – knowledgeable staff – very speedy delivery.
The item however - not so good. I am a size 4 1/2, so bought the medium-size Aircast. It’s very, very tight and therefore quite uncomfortable to wear.

I was given one of these by my surgeon but after 7 weeks of wearing it everyday, I needed a replacement as it has started to give and lost support. Purchase and delivery was easy and quick. The sizing given here is slightly off though.. I’m a women’s size 7 and was fitted by my surgeon in a small - perhaps it depends on the size of your ankle more. According to the sizes on here I should have a medium but that was too big to offer proper support.
I’ve worn this with a trainer and it is snug but does offer excellent support particularly pre/post surgery.

The product is fine. But it arrived over two weeks after my accident. The website said to expect a delay of a couple of days which I was happy to accept. But when i enquired after four days, the standard email reply told me the delay could be 10 days or more. It would have been helpful to know this before ordering as I would have sourced my brace elsewhere.

I've had problem with my Left ankle for many months, which stopped me playing badminton, walking and mountain biking. I have tried many ankle braces to no avail. I finally purchased this product and it reduced my ankle pain to a point that I can now walk and cycle with very little pain.
I've yet too play badminton (due to the lock down) but my hopes are high. This product works for me,

Great help with my ankle rehab

I broke and dislocated my ankle requiring surgery (it also caused a spiral fracture to my leg). After a plaster cast and boot for 6 weeks I was keen to get back to normal. This brace is brilliant in providing support as I exercise and flex the ankle. It is also providing me with full confidence as I push the limits. Easy to fit and comfortable to wear. Only fits with trainers not shoes (well, my shoes. Might fit with yours).

I bought this as a second support after being given my first by my hospital for an unstable bone in my ankle. I needed another one when I washed the first one. I am delighted that the strap is longer! My first one has a shorter strap so is difficult to do up. It's a pity it doesn't come in a flesh colour. Black looks so ugly with summer clothes!!

Well made adjustable support. You will not slip on a casual shoe though, unless it is low-cut and wide fitting. OK with a trainer or high-top style. Ideal for rehab, but not for sports activity. Might impinge the instep arch on some people, but this can be adjusted out. Definitely helped recovery from a chronic lax ankle condition and prevented recurring pain and the ankle suddenly 'giving way'.

This product was recommended by my physio following a ligament injury to my ankle. It is comfortable whilst supportive (fitting into a normal trainer) giving me the confidence to continue walking. The neoprene is comfortable and the two side strips of metal up the lateral sides of the ankle and the strapping ensure that my ankle does not turn when I am walking on uneven surfaces. The product was just what I needed but unfortunately as I have metal in the ankle the plastic support edge rested on a prone screw and therefore had to be returned as it was extremely painful which was a shame. Good product.

A recent small clean break to my ankle didn't warrant plaster so I had a gel splint, which I didn't find supportive enough. A friend directed me to the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace. It's great! It gives me a lot of support around the ankle, can be adjusted easily and, what was the best part, I was able to wear a shoe on that foot too. A fantastic buy! Thanks

Ordering very easy to understand,simple to follow size guide.Although I ordered mine on a Saturday I received mine Wednesday pm so that was good.
Very comfortable,easy to put on although it only fits in one pair of (canvass style) shoe.
I've worn mine for one week & one day I've noticed improvement,however I've also noticed on the inside of brace where u step into you're shoe it is starting to rub the fabric on the brace just where the splint ends .
Overall highly recommend this product.

I have a non-union broken ankle which is at present in an airboot. I was looking for something that would give ultra support but be more comfortable to wear when watching TV etc. This really fits the bill and I can see how it would benefit someone with weak ankles too during sports. Worth every penny.

The Customer service is first rate – knowledgeable staff – very speedy delivery.
The item however - not so good. I am a size 4 1/2, so bought the medium-size Aircast. It’s very, very tight and therefore quite uncomfortable to wear.

Replacement brace

I was given one of these by my surgeon but after 7 weeks of wearing it everyday, I needed a replacement as it has started to give and lost support. Purchase and delivery was easy and quick. The sizing given here is slightly off though.. I’m a women’s size 7 and was fitted by my surgeon in a small - perhaps it depends on the size of your ankle more. According to the sizes on here I should have a medium but that was too big to offer proper support.
I’ve worn this with a trainer and it is snug but does offer excellent support particularly pre/post surgery.

The product is fine. But it arrived over two weeks after my accident. The website said to expect a delay of a couple of days which I was happy to accept. But when i enquired after four days, the standard email reply told me the delay could be 10 days or more. It would have been helpful to know this before ordering as I would have sourced my brace elsewhere.

I've had problem with my Left ankle for many months, which stopped me playing badminton, walking and mountain biking. I have tried many ankle braces to no avail. I finally purchased this product and it reduced my ankle pain to a point that I can now walk and cycle with very little pain.
I've yet too play badminton (due to the lock down) but my hopes are high. This product works for me,

My husband was really struggling after breaking his ankle and potentially needs an operation but due to the pandemic they will not operate at the moment. This ankle support has really helped him get around easier without needing the full boot and more mobile thankfully

Great help with my ankle rehab

I broke and dislocated my ankle requiring surgery (it also caused a spiral fracture to my leg). After a plaster cast and boot for 6 weeks I was keen to get back to normal. This brace is brilliant in providing support as I exercise and flex the ankle. It is also providing me with full confidence as I push the limits. Easy to fit and comfortable to wear. Only fits with trainers not shoes (well, my shoes. Might fit with yours).

I bought this as a second support after being given my first by my hospital for an unstable bone in my ankle. I needed another one when I washed the first one. I am delighted that the strap is longer! My first one has a shorter strap so is difficult to do up. It's a pity it doesn't come in a flesh colour. Black looks so ugly with summer clothes!!

I purchased this as I was returning to netball after badly spraining my ankle!! This ankle brace gave me full support, it was comfortable and gave me the confidence I needed! I would highly recommend this item.

Well made adjustable support. You will not slip on a casual shoe though, unless it is low-cut and wide fitting. OK with a trainer or high-top style. Ideal for rehab, but not for sports activity. Might impinge the instep arch on some people, but this can be adjusted out. Definitely helped recovery from a chronic lax ankle condition and prevented recurring pain and the ankle suddenly 'giving way'.

This product was recommended by my physio following a ligament injury to my ankle. It is comfortable whilst supportive (fitting into a normal trainer) giving me the confidence to continue walking. The neoprene is comfortable and the two side strips of metal up the lateral sides of the ankle and the strapping ensure that my ankle does not turn when I am walking on uneven surfaces. I would recommend

Excellent strength and support following ankle sprain last summer on already weakened ankle. Cold and wet weather still causes pain and stiffness in ankle but brace eliminates this and enables movement and walking with confidence.

The product was just what I needed but unfortunately as I have metal in the ankle the plastic support edge rested on a prone screw and therefore had to be returned as it was extremely painful which was a shame. Good product.

Supporting a broken ankle

A recent small clean break to my ankle didn't warrant plaster so I had a gel splint, which I didn't find supportive enough. A friend directed me to the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace. It's great! It gives me a lot of support around the ankle, can be adjusted easily and, what was the best part, I was able to wear a shoe on that foot too. A fantastic buy! Thanks

Had the R from a motorcycle accident 2 years ago, just started playing netball after 20 yrs, find it helps my confidence so purchased the L for added support (from old netball ankle injuries) fits comfortably in new netball shoes. Very happy.

Ordering very easy to understand,simple to follow size guide.Although I ordered mine on a Saturday I received mine Wednesday pm so that was good.
Very comfortable,easy to put on although it only fits in one pair of (canvass style) shoe.
I've worn mine for one week & one day I've noticed improvement,however I've also noticed on the inside of brace where u step into you're shoe it is starting to rub the fabric on the brace just where the splint ends .
Overall highly recommend this product.

I have a non-union broken ankle which is at present in an airboot. I was looking for something that would give ultra support but be more comfortable to wear when watching TV etc. This really fits the bill and I can see how it would benefit someone with weak ankles too during sports. Worth every penny.
