How Does the Sports and Braces Mouthguard Become Custom-Fit?

The SISU MAX starts off flat but moulds to the shape of your mouth to create a custom-fit for you. Its ability to be custom-fitted means you’ll be able to talk, breathe and drink better than ever before when wearing the SISU MAX Mouthguard. Watch the video below for a visual guide on how to prepare and fit your mouth shield.

How Do Sports Mouthguards or Gum Shields Work?

A mouth guard protects your teeth from damaged in the event of impact, excessive pressure, and excessive grinding. It works by absorbing some of the force during such circumstances, spreading it out over the area, and as a result reducing the intensity felt as well as damage.

Maximum Protection Without the Bulk

To make their most powerful mouthguard, SISU have used a high-tech thermoplastic material that is 50% stronger and has 8x greater tensile strength than other mouthguard materials. At 2.4mm in thickness, they've also managed to make it 30% thinner than conventional mouthguards, meaning you've got the best of both worlds for protection and comfort when wearing.

If you wear braces and require a mouthguard, the SISU MAX has got you covered. The guard is remoldable for up to 20 times, so you can continue using it even as your teeth shift and move during orthodontic treatment, however you should work with your dental professional to help you fit, and re-fit your SISU when you go in for your adjustments.

How Do I Fit My Mouthguard If I Wear Braces?

When fitting SISU with braces, you need to cover the brackets with dental wax or aluminium foil. SISU is a custom fit mouthguard that fits perfectly to your teeth. Without a barrier over the brackets, the SISU will create a vacuum tight seal around the brackets and be hard to get off.

The good news is that you only need to use the barrier during the fitting process. Once fitted, you can wear the guard right over the braces. Be sure that the guard does not curve up and over the bracket where it will harden and become difficult to remove – block out the area above the bracket with dental wax.
