Basic Heel Elevators

The Basic Heel Elevators slide into the back of your shoe either on their own or with a pair of shoe insoles, where their EVA polymer design provides firm support that can help to alleviate heel pain, Achilles tendonitis and leg length discrepancy. Supplied in a number of sizes and differing thicknesses, these elevators offer a catered level of heel support that can be trimmed to fit most user's shoes.

What's Included?

We offer the Basic Heel Elevators either as an individual pair, or as a pack of 10 pairs. As the Heel Elevators feature a self-adhesive backing to secure them to your shoes, we recommend selecting the money-saving multipack if you would like to use them in multiple pairs of footwear.

Sizing of the Basic Heel Elevators

To find the perfect size heel elevator for you, please remove an existing lift, elevator or insole and measure it at the widest point as demonstrated in the image below. Once you have this measurement, please consult the sizing chart beneath to find the perfect size for you!

How to measure your insole

Size UK Shoe Size Dimensions (Length x Width)
Small Size 4 - 6  103 x 60mm
Medium Size 6.5 - 8 109 x 63mm
Large Size 8.5+ 119 x 66mm

Who Can Use the Basic Heel Elevators?

The Basic Heel Elevators stick into the back of your shoe underneath your heel, providing support and stability to the affected area. You can use the elevators either simultaneously in each heel, or just one on their own. Suitable conditions that the elevators can improve include:

  • Achilles Tendonitis: Tackle Achilles soreness by stabilising your heel and reducing pressure
  • Heel Pain: Beat reoccurring heel pain by redistributing pressure
  • Leg Length Discrepancy: Choose the thicker option and use them under your shorter leg to make walking more comfortable

How Do I Apply the Basic Heel Elevators?

The good thing about the elevators as that they take little effort to apply. To wear correctly:

  1. Point the adhesive backed side downwards
  2. Place into your shoe on top of the insole
  3. Make sure the raised end is pressed into the back of the shoe where you place your heel
  4. Put your foot into your shoe

Also bear in mind that you can wear these elevators either on their own, or with a pair of orthotics that are specifically designed to tackle a certain foot problem. If you have a foot condition such as Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis or over-pronation, then check out our Shoe Insoles category.

Which Thickness Should I Buy?

These elevators are available in three different thicknesses: 4mm, 6mm and 8mm. If you suffer from leg length discrepancy, we would recommend speaking to your GP about which degree of elevation you require. If you suffer from heel pain or a heel condition, then choosing one of the lower sizes might be a better choice for you.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Easy to use heel lifts
  • Can be applied to a range of orthotics
  • Self-adhesive backing for easy application
  • Available in six thicknesses and three sizes
  • Can be trimmed to fit the shape and size of your shoes
  • Sold in pairs and packs of 10

How Do the Basic Heel Elevators Work?

The Basic Heel Elevators work by supporting your heel and ankle with a layer of high density EVA polymer. This material can redistribute pressure and reduce the day-to-day strain that your heel feels. Alternatively, if you suffer from leg length discrepancy, using just one elevator can reduce the difference in length between your legs.

How Comfortable Are the Basic Heel Elevators?

These elevators have been designed to fit comfortably inside your shoe, and won't feel overly bulky or uncomfortable during use. The elevators use a firm yet shock-absorbing material that means your heel is always cushioned while walking. This can actually improve comfort if you spend a lot of time on your feet.

What Footwear Can I Wear the Elevators With?

The Basic Elevators are designed to fit in most types of footwear, except open footwear such as heels and sandals. Suitable shoes include:

  • Trainers
  • Work boots
  • Casual shoes
  • Loafers
  • Running shoes
  • Walking boots
  • Wellies
  • Work shoes
  • Boots
  • Sports shoes
  • Football boots

Will the Top of My Foot Rub On the Top of My Shoe?

Due to the downwards sloping nature of the Basic Elevators, you should find that the top of your foot won't rub on the top of your shoe. The elevators quickly get thinner as you move down their length, meaning that your foot should fit snugly inside your shoe without it feeling tight. These elevators are designed to fit inside a pair of shoes with thicker insoles present.

Do the Basic Heel Elevators Move During Use?

A self-adhesive backing on the downward facing part of the elevators means that they won't move around during use. This means that they provide superb comfort and won't cause blisters due to a constant moving underneath your foot.

Buy in a Two Pack or in Bulk

The Basic Heel Elevators can either be supplied as a pack of 2 or in a pack of 10. The self-adhesive backing means that you don't need to remove your elevators from your shoes, so if you like to change the shoes you wear regularly, we would recommend buying a pack of 10.

What Materials Are the Basic Heel Elevators Made From?

These heel lifts are constructed from a high density EVA polymer. They are flexible but offer a firm surface and support.

I wish that I had known about these a year ago. My achilles tendon problem had been worsening for that time until it suddenly became acute. I had to rest my leg for a week and use heat/ice treatment. I bought the heel raises for my slippers as well as each pair of shoes. They have allowed me to recover quickly and I intend to carry on using them for a while yet. They are still in position and in perfect condition after several weeks.

I ordered these a few weeks back after getting a small lump and pain around my Achilles which came on due to strain through wearing flat shoes. How can something so small in height made so much difference? The relief felt immediate and I've continued to wear them in my shoes with no problems. I will be ordering more for my winter shoes and boots.

I permanently need wedges in walking shoes due to issues following an ankle fusion some years ago. These wedges seem to be good quality and cheaper than others I’ve previously purchased from other companies. Prompt delivery. Health and Care offer a good range of products and I would definitely purchase from them again.

Following major ankle/foot surgery I need a one inch heel to my footwear. I was so glad to find somewhere which sold a selection of heel elevators in a choice of thicknesses. It is so much easier using these than trying to find shoes with the right height heels. Thank you

A very simple wedge insert with an adhesive layer to stick into your shoes, that is effective and virtually unnoticeable when worn in shoe. I bought to counteract differing leg length diagnosis and they work very well. It has corrected An imbalance in my pelvis and reduced chronic pain in my hip. Would recommend.

Unfortunately the boots I bought them for were way too small so I had to return them. However, I’m quite sure that the elevators will be put to good use one of these fine days!
