Alternating Treatment Modes for Different Levels of Risk

This bariatric mattress is useable for patients up to high-risk of pressure ulcers in its static mode, as well as patients up to very high-risk of pressure ulcers in dynamic mode. The difference between these two modes involves the intensity of the treatment - static mode uses the material and surface of the mattress itself to distribute patient weight evenly across the bed. To treat very high-risk patients, the mattress can be put into dynamic mode by activating the power unit, which alternatively inflates and deflates different cells in the mattress to remove pressure from building up in one particular area.

Castellated Foam Mattress Increases Comfort and Support

In static mode (without using the pump for the the highest level of relief), pressure relief is provided by the design of the mattress itself. Weight and pressure is spread across the surface area by a pattern of grooves, preventing sustained contact with any one area of the body with the mattress. This is one of the most important tools for preventing pressure ulcers developing.

The segmented mattress face is effective in reducing risk of pressure build up, but it is also designed with comfort as a priority for patients who will be bed bound for long periods of time. The soft foam padding is smooth to the touch and layered with a high quality covering, making a welcome bed for patients to lie in. 

Welded Seam Mattress Cover Is Beneficial for Skin Contact and Prevents Infections

The Diversi-Foam mattress cover is constructed using seam welding, producing a continuous weld that is more likely to stop dirt seeping into the mattress. Waterproof and vapour permeable, it provides a more hygienic surface for patients to lie on - better for skin contact and less likely to cause infections. 

Large Surface Area For Bariatric Patients

The dimensions of this mattress are 198 x 120 x 15cm (length, width and depth), which is a larger version of the standard Diversi-Foam Pressure Relief Mattress. With all the same features, but to be used in a larger bed, this mattress accommodates bariatric patients with the ability to support weight of up to 380kg/60 stone.

Make Sure to Use With a Bariatric Size Bed

The Diversi-Foam Bariatric Mattress should be used with a bed large enough to fit it, so make sure the dimensions of the bed you use match those of the mattress. The Soprano Bariatric Profiling Bed is an excellent choice, accommodating profiling movements for a mattress of this size.

Washing the Diversi-Foam Mattress Cover

The mattress cover should be washed regularly for proper hygiene. It can either be machine washed up to 60°C for up to 15 minutes. This should be followed by a cold rinse and extraction. Alternatively, hand wash with a damp cloth soaked in hot water and detergent. The mattress cover can be tumble dried on a low heat (up to 40°C) for up to 90 minutes, or air dried.
