Who Can Use the Gypsona Bandage?

The Plaster of Paris Bandage is ideal for forming a strong cast quickly. The product should be used for rigid immobilisation in a clinical setting. This includes accident and emergency departments, where rapid results are usually required. The bandage creates a durable and accurate cast for immobilising broken and fractured limbs.

How To Use the Plaster of Paris Bandage

  1. Simply immerse the bandage in room-temperature tap water for 3 - 5 seconds and remove any excess until it is damp, but not dripping wet. The product may be squeezed to remove water, as it is designed to do so without plaster loss. The more water removed, the more the mould will maintain its strength.
  2. Wrap the bandage around the lower section of the foot to form a slipper. The interlocked weave of the cloth will make the wet bandage more comfortable and stable for the patient. This will rapidly dry within 3 -5 minutes to form a permanent record of the patient's feet.
  3. Keep in mind that the drying process involves a geothermic reaction - it will not be hot enough to burn, but still may cause discomfort for several minutes.

Things To Remember When Using the Gypsona Bandage

The Plaster of Paris Bandage is highly effective for patients' injuries when used with care. For optimal results, make sure to avoid:

  • Using water that is too hot
  • Re-dipping the bandage in the water
  • Making the cast overly thick (3 layers maximum)
