Actimove Arthritis Care Compression Ankle Support

To soothe the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis of the ankle, a support should ideally provide both warmth and compression to help bring down swelling and discomfort. The Actimove Arthritis Care Compression Ankle Support is made with heat-retaining ceramic fibres to direct body heat back to the ankle, and uses compressive fibres to provide support and help to control swelling.

Will This Ankle Brace Relieve Pain?

Yes, this ankle support is designed to relieve pain in two ways:

  1. Heat-Retention: Unique ceramic fibres reflect body heat back toward the ankle, soothing the area and increasing blood flow
  2. Compression: The brace will provide light compression to the ankle, helping to increase circulation, promote healing and manage pain

Which Size Should I Choose?

The Actimove Compression Ankle Brace is available in five sizes. To determine the correct size for you, please measure the circumference of your ankle as shown in the diagram, and refer to the table below. If you fall on a sizing boundary, we recommend choosing the larger size of the two.

How Comfortable Is the Actimove Compression Support?

As this brace is designed to be worn for long hours of the day, it is made with irritation-free materials and breathable fabric. Completely latex-free, this brace is perforated to make it comfortable whether you're lounging around the house or taking part in sports.

How Do I Apply the Actimove Compression Ankle Sleeve?

There are no straps or adjustments to worry about, so you can simply slide the sleeve onto your ankle and enjoy compressive pain reduction immediately. There is a smooth motion-comfort zone on the back of the support, and once this area is over your heel, you'll instantly feel that the support is where it should be. The diagram below shows proper application procedure.

How Do Ceramic Fibres Increase Heat Retention?

Aside from the compression this ankle brace provides, its main benefit comes through the heat-retaining ceramic fibres designed to trap the body's heat. As is shown in the diagram below, ceramic fibres work to target Far Infrared Radiation to the ankle, which helps to improve mobility, promote blood flow and relieve pain. This soothing warmth effect allows the brace to provide a greater pain-relieving effect when compared to braces that are made with compressive fibres alone.

Excellent ankle support

This actimove ankle support is the best I've come across in many years of trying various similar products. Although you first think it's too tight, it actually becomes fitted to your ankle and you almost forget about it and the support you experience, in my case, is excellent. The price maybe high but I would still recommend it.

Delivery was excellent but, unfortunately, found it hurt to wear it for more than an hour. Think perhaps I needed a bigger size and I may try this at later date.

A Pain-inducing Design

I selected the correct size, but the leg portion was too long and far too tight. It pressed so hard on my calf muscle that it caused unbearable pain and had to be removed immediately.

It became usable only by cutting a full 76mm (3") off the top. I've been wearing it that way for a few days and is starting to fray, but it's giving me time to find one that's been designed and sized correctly.

I should add that I've now also cut off the hard reinforcing band on the foot end as this was causing underfoot pain.

With regards to the sizing, I can confirm that the support is designed to be a little tight, but that this should not cause pain. It may be that you did not select the correct size for your need.

We do not recommend manually trimming or altering your brace, as this may undermine the performance of the support.

This ankle support has helped to keep my foot swelling down and removed much of the pain. I have knocked off a star because despite my measurement being well within the small size its so very tight higher up the ankle, I have to roll it down and double it over but unlike the knee support I cannot leave it on for long periods.
