Pair of Aircast A60 Ankle Braces (Left and Right)

If you're looking for the ultimate ankle brace to protect your ankle while playing sports, the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace is the perfect solution, as it prevents ankle rollover and sprains to help you perform at your best. For those who require support for both ankles, this Pair of Aircast A60 Ankle Braces (Left and Right) provides you with two braces, ensuring you the peace of mind that your ankles are fully protected during activity.

What's Included?

  • 1 x Aircast A60 Ankle Brace (Left)
  • 1 x Aircast A60 Ankle Brace (Right)

Why Is the Aircast A60 Considered the Best Ankle Brace for Sports?

To help you decide if this is the best ankle brace for you, we’ve outlined our favourite things about the A60 Support that we think puts it at the top of its game.

  • High-quality ankle brace ideal for professional and amateur athletes alike
  • Supports your ankle with plastic stabilisers to prevent sprains and ankle rollover
  • Stabilising at 60° to provide your ankle with a more comfortable resting angle
  • Comfortable to wear with a breathable Breath-O-Prene material
  • Quick and easy to put on with a secure single fastening strap
  • Fits into most trainers, boots, and shoes without being bulky
  • Suitable for hand washing in lukewarm water with mild soap and then air dried

How Does the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace Prevent Sprains and Rollovers?

This ankle support features a sleek stabiliser that goes from one side of your ankle to the other, resting comfortably under the arch of your foot. The proprioceptive nature of the brace means you are more subconsciously aware of where you are placing your foot, reducing the risk of further injury.

Unlike traditional ankle supports, which are often designed with a 90° angle, the A60 supports the ankle at 60°. This is akin to the angle of your foot during activities, making the A60 Ankle Support ideal for preventing sprains and ankle rollover during sports.

The Aircast A60 Ankle Brace Supports the Ankle with a 60 Degree Moulded Stabiliser

Which Sports Is This Ankle Support Suitable For?

This lightweight ankle support is suitable for a wide range of sports and physical activities, and can prevent ankle injuries and sprains while playing virtually any dry-land sport that requires turning or running. Suitable sports include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Badminton
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Lacrosse
  • Rugby
  • Running
  • Squash
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Walking

…and more!

What Size Do I Need?

This support is available for the left and the right foot in sizes Small, Medium, and Large. Please see the table below for details.

Size UK Shoe Size
Small Up to UK Size 6
Medium UK Size 6 to 8
Large UK Size 8+

What Should I Do if I Fall Between Sizes?

If your shoe size falls between two sizes, we suggest selecting the larger of the two sizes for comfort. However, if you would prefer a snug fit, please select the lower of the two sizes.

If your ankle is swollen and you are close to a sizing boundary, we would advise choosing a larger size.

What If My Feet Are Too Small for the A60?

If your feet are too small for the A60 you may want to consider an alternative. The Aircast AirSport Ankle Brace provides a similar profile of support and includes an extra small option.

Can I Wear the Aircast A60 with an Existing Sprain?

The Aircast A60 Brace is designed to provide prophylactic protection and support, preventing injured ankles before they occur. This preventative ankle brace is therefore not suitable for wearing while you are suffering from an existing ankle sprain.

If you require a brace for functional recovery of an existing ankle sprain, the Aircast Air-Stirrup Universe Ankle Brace will help to reduce swelling and pain. If you’re almost ready to begin physical activity again before a full recovery, we recommend the semi-rigid cushioning support of the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace.

Can I Wear the A60 Ankle Support On Either Foot?

As the Aircast Ankle Brace features an anatomical shape to fit with the curves of your ankle, it should be worn only on the specified foot. If you find that you have a particularly protruding ankle bone, we recommend that you boost the comfort of your A60 Ankle Brace with a gel sleeve. We know that you need your ankle to feel as comfortable as possible, so you may wish to pair your A60 with the Silipos Gel Sleeve for optimal comfort!

Can I Wear This Brace on Both Ankles?

Yes! If you have previously suffered sprains on both ankles and wish to protect against a similar injury in the future, then wearing an A60 on each ankle is a good measure to prevent against sprains and ankle rollover.

Will the A60 Brace Fit Inside My Normal Shoes?

With a low-profile design that doesn’t bulk out your footwear, you can wear the A60 Ankle Support inside virtually any trainer, football boot, hiking boot or shoe. As you can see from the image below, the brace contours to your ankle shape without excessive bulk, making sure it won’t compromise your footwear and your comfort.

How Easy Is It to Put On the A60 Brace?

This lightweight ankle brace is quick and easy to put on, allowing you to strap it on in a matter of seconds. All you need to do is secure the internal sleeve at the front of your ankle with the hook-and-loop fastener, and then bring the single strap around the back of your ankle and up through the plastic buckle on the outside of your ankle. This can then be adjusted to be as loose or as tight as you require.

Why not time yourself? See how long it takes you to read the above paragraph out loud, and then see if you can put on the Aircast Ankle Brace in less time! Make sure you let us know how you did!

How Comfortable Is It?

This stabilising ankle brace is an incredibly comfortable and lightweight ankle support! The stabiliser rests snugly under the arch of your foot without adding any bulk to your shoes, and the curved stabilisers conform to the natural shape of your foot for improved comfort.

Do I Wear Socks with the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace?

It’s best to wear the Aircast A60 brace on top of a sock. Not only will this make it more comfortable, but it will also prevent it from moving around while you’re active. There’s no need to compromise your warmth while playing sports outdoors!

What Exercises Can I Do to Aid My Recovery?

Support is important, but stretching and strength exercises will be needed to get your ankle back to full health. We recommend the MoVeS Ankleciser – a small resistance band designed specifically for ankle rehabilitation exercises with progressing resistance. A number of exercises are provided on the Ankleciser product page.

How Does the A60 Stay In Place?

As the A60 Ankle Support wraps under the arch of the foot, anchoring the support in the correct position, the ankle brace is prevented from migrating up the leg during use. This means that the brace reduces the risk of the brace moving out of its correct position and limits the time you need to spend repositioning the brace during sport or activity.

What Should I Do After I Take Off the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace?

After removing the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace, we recommend that you gently apply an ice pack to the area. Not only will this feel soothing after an intense workout, but it will also help to prevent any post-match discomfort from turning into something more nasty. The Ankle Ice Pack Wrap is a perfect solution!

How Often Will I Be Able to Wear This Ankle Support?

You can wear the A60 whenever you feel the need to protect your ankle during physical activities. The mesh fabric construction surrounding the plastic stabilisers stands up to vigorous use whether outdoors on the pitch or inside the sports hall, ensuring it can provide you with vital support time and time again.

As it is designed to prevent further injury rather than to heal an existing sprain, there would be no need to wear it constantly, for example when sitting for any length of time, and it's not designed for wearing at night while you sleep. If you're experiencing any discomfort after wearing the brace for extended periods, then it may be worth considering a different size, and something like the Silipos Gel Sleeve can boost comfort.

What’s the Aircast A60 Ankle Brace Made Of?

This brace is made from special Breathe-O-Prene fabric, while the stabiliser inside the ankle brace is made from a moulded plastic to provide reliable support at a 60° angle. Although rigid enough to provide effective stability, the stabiliser is not uncomfortable, providing reliable and lightweight ankle support. A full list of actual materials include:

  • Nylon
  • Spandex
  • Polyester
  • Polypropylene Resin
  • Polyethylene Foam

Is the Aircast A60 a Latex-Free Ankle Brace?

Yes! The Aircast A60 Ankle Brace is free from latex, making it a suitable option for you if you’re worried about latex allergies or often find latex-based products to be uncomfortable or irritating.

How Long Have Aircast Been Creating Quality Sports Supports?

We know how important it is for you to use products from trustworthy brands, and this is particularly true when considering your health and wellbeing. Aircast have been making technical breakthroughs and providing medical professionals worldwide with reliable products for more than 30 years.

The best ankle brace for active EDS folk
Rating:

These are my go-to ankle braces and have literally given me my life back. I wear them for any sport activities and for walking, due to having EDS and completely unstable ankles after years of injuries.

They are literally the best you can get if you still want to maintain normal ankle motion but block inversion and eversion of the ankles.

The only criticism I have - which is recognised by Aircast but they have yet to fix it - is that the pale grey fabric on the insides does eventually wear through over a few years of regular (almost daily) use, which means that I have to replace them at that point - but by then the elasticity has also mostly gone in the sock as well.

I honestly don't mind though, it's a small price to pay every few years for being able to walk, run, and train with confidence again.

Excellent item but Faulty Product

The Aircast A60 ankle braces are brilliant! They give wonderful support and greatly improve confidence when walking on rough ground if you have weak ankles.

Unfortunately the left brace in the pair I was sent is faulty so I will have to return it and hope the refund process will be easy. I still have an old left brace which works okay so I will use that with the excellent new right one.
