What's the Difference Between This Phone and the ULE Version?

  • Lower energy use for more economical use
  • Ability to block up to 100 numbers instead of 20
  • Ability to link up to connected ULE doorbell and external ringer
  • Digital display of missed calls on base

How Do I Set It Up?

The process of setting up this Cordless Amplified Telephone is very straightforward. All you need to do is:

  • Plug the adaptor into a wall socket, and the line cord into a telephone jack or a DSL filter (not included).
  • On the handset, insert the battery pack (included) in the battery compartment and replace the cover.
  • Charge the handset by placing it face forward in the base. Charge the batteries for at least 12 hours when charging for the first time.
  • Directions for pairing additional handsets can be found in the user manual below.

You can learn more about how to set up the cordless telephone by viewing the user manual linked below:

How Does the SOS Button Work?

There is an SOS button located on the right-hand side of every AmpliDECT 595 handset. Once pressed, this will send a pre-recorded emergency message to four pre-selected contacts, alerting them to ascertain the safety of the user. If you do not wish to use the SOS button function, simply refrain from entering the emergency contacts, and the button will remain non-functional.

Does the Answering Machine Provide the Date and Time of Messages?

Yes, the answering machine included with this product does state the date and time that each message was left.

An excellent buy!

We bought the phones for my 92 year old mother who is hard of hearing and struggles to see very well. She has been using it for about a week now and loves it. It is easy for her to use, see the numbers and hear the person on the other end of the phone. A life saver! We now feel much happier leaving her alone for a few hours in the knowledge that she can contact us anytime should she have a problem. An excellent choice and would highly recommend to anyone.

Very disappointing given the cost

This was purchased for my 97 year old mother, who is very hard of hearing, but otherwise quite switched on. I set up the phone for her, inserting numbers into her phone book, etc. The instructions in the accompanying set up sheet are poor, badly laid out and not easy to follow.

The answer machine is built into the handset/base unit, but it is operated via the handset, which is where the display is - we should have gone for one with the answer machine display on the base unit, which is more to the standard and easier for a 97 year old to operate, not least as it was what she had been used to. It would also seem that you cannot record your own message on the unit. Well, if you can, the instructions do not tell you how to do so.

In addition, whilst the ringer volume might be loud, many of the beeps and tones that you need to hear when setting up and operating the unit are impossible for someone who is hard of hearing to hear. In addition, the call volume, i.e. when someone is speaking, appears to be no better than her previous much cheaper phone. As for the picture memory buttons on the base unit, an unnecessary gimmick that are not that straightforward to set up or use. Lastly, the numbers for the SOS button on the side were set up as per the instructions, but the unit does not call those preset numbers.

In summary, no issues over the build quality of the unit, but the rest is very disappointing and we wish we had opted for a different, simpler unit. Think carefully before purchasing this unit in terms of who will be using it and what you want out of it.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for leaving such a comprehensive and detailed review. We're sorry that the AmpliDECT 595 didn't meeet your expectations on this occasion.

If you are looking for a very simple amplified phone, I would recommend trying the Geemarc Amplipower 40, which has a very simplistic and user-friendly design. Unfortunately, the Amplipower 40 does not include an answering machine.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Best wishes,

Alex at Health and Care

Delivery fast...thank you.
Phone is good quality, loud ring and earpiece which is why I bought it, for an elderly relative. Far too many features for an elderly user but no manufacturer seems to make a basic version with such good volume levels.
Overall very pleased.....but there is a gap in the market here.
