What Is the Difference Between Basic and Active Metabolic Rate?

The basal metabolic rate is the base level of metabolism; the amount of calories burnt by the body to maintain normal body functions, even if you are asleep. Your active metabolic rate factors in the calories burnt by exercise over your day, and is therefore essential if you want to change your weight.
