How Do The Rehband Metatarsal Pads Work?

  • Unique Construction: Constructed from Technogel, a unique PU-based gel, the Rehband Metatarsal Pads are ideal for improving comfort for the metatarsals. This particular material helps absorb a great deal of shock so you don't have to deal with the negative impact that is commonly associated with high activity levels and arch pain. The inserts are also anatomically T-shaped to fit snugly in your shoes, while also maximising comfort and support during use.
  • Supports and Relieves the Anterior Arch: Your sporting performance is dependent on your physiology, and when you perform sporting activities that depend heavily on the dexterity of your feet, it's integral that you take care of them properly. If you find yourself suffering from discomfort in the arches, this can severely disrupt your training and performance. Thankfully, the QD Metatarsal Pads are designed to alleviate discomfort in the anterior arches while also supporting them to prevent future injury, making them ideal for use when you're looking to get ahead in your sport of choice.

Where Do I Place the Metatarsal Pads?

These pads should be placed on the ball of foot area in your shoe, with the wider edge at the front near your toes and the narrow edge pointing towards the heel. The image below shows proper placement of the pads, using a generic metatarsal pad and insole for demonstration purposes.

What Is the Anterior Arch?

The anterior arch is the part of your arch nearest the front of your foot, beginning where your metatarsal heads end. The metatarsal heads are sort of like the "knuckles" on the bottom of your feet, and are the area of your sole that remains on the ground when you raise your heel and leave your toes on the ground.

Uncomfortable
Rating:

The product is certainly well made and robust. But personally I feel a lot of discomfort due to the sharp rise in contour. Having said that, the lateral shape is fine, and I've used it as a template to mark and cut 5mm thick self adhesive medical felt which I've used in two layers. Ive found this to be ideal as I add as many layers as required beneath my shoe insoles.

My footcare pads

These were recommended by my rheumatoid arthritis nurse/consultant. They are to ease the pressure pain in my feet. The instructions are not very clear, but they seem to do what they are supposed to. It probably would be preferable to be able to attach them to the foot rather than in the shoes themselves.

These Met pads really help with the pain in the balls of my feet, and are very useful in shoes where a full orthotic insole is hard to accommodate.
