Dictus Band AFO

Helping to prevent your foot from trailing, the Dictus Band AFO is the ideal product for anyone suffering from foot drop. Foot drop (also known as drop foot) is a condition that can be caused by a number of factors and increases the sufferer's chances of falling. The Dictus Band lifts the foot and this helps vulnerable users to avoid trips and the subsequent injuries that can arise (such as broken bones).

Please note that the image displayed shows the Dictus Band AFO with the Footband for Internal Use. The Footband for Internal Use can be added to your order by ticking the box above to enable Dictus Band to be worn without footwear.

Who Can Use the Dictus Band AFO?

The Dictus Band Ankle Strap is suitable for mild to moderate foot drop, which can be caused by the following conditions:

  • Stroke
  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Other neurological conditions

The band can also be used to combat shuffling gait due to Parkinson's disease and the daytime treatment of plantar fasciitis. This makes the Dictus AFO a great choice for a range of issues.

What is an AFO?

AFO stands for ankle foot orthosis, and it basically means a device that is used to connect the ankle and foot to prevent foot drop. AFOs such as the Dictus Band are commonly used to protect against foot drop and are available in a number of different designs.

Discreet and Comfortable Design

Unlike many other designs of AFO, which can be bulky and can cause discomfort to users, the Dictus Lower Extremity AFO features a subtle design that can be used discreetly. The band is available in two colours – Black and Natural – that can be selected using the drop-down menu above.

By utilising a rubber band hook, the Dictus Band remains flexible while utilising a recoil action for reduced strain. The strap can be used with most types of footwear and is easily mounted on laced shoes, making it convenient as well as comfortable.

What is the AFO Made From?

The AFO Dictus Band is made from a number of materials. The main area is made from leather, with a rubber band in-between the two parts that helps to create the raised motion.

Sizing of the Dictus Band

Suitable for most users, the Dictus Band AFO is available in three sizes. To find the perfect size for your needs, please measure the circumference of the ankle with which you intend to use the AFO.

Size Ankle Circumference (mm)
Medium 150 - 200mm
