Frequently Asked Questions

What wearing in period is required?

A wearing in period must be allowed for in order to give the patient time to get used to the orthotic, however, it is not unusual to notice an immediate beneficial effect. It is important to review each patient as the level of control may need to change during the course of treatment. It is important that patients with neuropathy examine their feet every day.

Can Safeguard be used in different shoes?

It is possible to use Safeguard in a wide range of  shoes provided that they accommodate the increased thickness of the forefoot and permit freedom of movement for the ball of the foot. Wide fitting trim-to-fit lines are provided on the underside of each pair along with card templates for both standard and narrow fittings. We recommend that this orthotic is worn with shoes provided by a suitably qualified clinician.

Can they be cleaned?

Safeguard should be cleaned regularly in order to prolong the product life expectancy. We recommend sponging them gently with warm soapy water and a dry with paper towel. Do not soak or dry artificially.
