AED Training Course - For Workplace Defibrillator Use

The importance of AED's (Automated External Defibrillators) has increased in recent years, with cases of SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) more frequent than in the past it is essential everybody possible is aware of how an AED can help save lives. This AED Training Course is designed to make sure everyone within your workplace is familiar with an AED and how the device works, having a defibrillator within the workplace is great although it is crucial that people can use the device in the event of an emergency.

Defibrillation is one crucial stage in a sequence of events that need to occur for the resuscitation of a victim of SCA. The AED has been described as the single most important development in the treatment of SCA. Under ideal circumstances, when used very soon after collapse (within two to three minutes), many can survive. Therefore crucial to the chance of survival is the interval between collapse and the use of an AED to deliver a shock.

In Europe, around 1 in 1000 of the population suffers SCA each year. Many SCA victims could be saved if people nearby recognise the concern early on, at Health and Care we are intent on promoting the use of defibrillators in order to address this. We also believe that through more transparent signage outlining where your closest defibrillator can be found we can help someone locate their closest AED in the event of an emergency.

The less of a delay in summoning the ambulance, performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and using an AED promptly; the higher the chances of survival. We must though be aware that the critical factor here is the speed with which shock is given. Our AED Training Course is designed to remove any fears surrounding an AED so that anyone present can act in the event of an emergency.

Defibrillation, Common Misconceptions

Our AED Training Course has been developed to eradicate the common conception that defibrillators should only be used by medically trained individuals. In the event of an emergency, non-medically trained individuals are advised to use the defibrillator as in short it is better to use the AED than not. If you are not from a medical background our AED Training Course is designed to familiarize yourself with a defibrillator and its functions.

Another common misconception is that you could further complicate a SCA through incorrectly using an AED, although it is practically impossible to shock someone who does not require it. With defibrillators used in instances of SCA it must be understood that the individual has stopped breathing and therefore it would be rather difficult to further SCA.

With each minute vital in saving someone from SCA, our AED Training Course has been created to make use of all available time to save someone's life.
