What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical name for what we commonly call excess or chronic sweating. As we all sweat, it can be difficult to asses whether or not you're suffering with hyperhidrosis.

We'd say that if you're uncomfortable or fed up with how much you're perspiring when you aren't exerting yourself or exercising, you're likely already displaying some symptoms.

Sweat-Proof Your Wardrobe

Aside from washes, creams and treatments, on a day-to-day basis, wearing lightweight clothes gives your body the freedom to breathe and release excess heat before it can turn into sweat. We recommended that you avoid wearing tight clothes. Instead, try wearing shirts made using materials like natural linen and cotton.

Choose Colours That Don't Highlight Perspiration

An obvious way to prevent sweat stains is to wear darker colours that won't highlight sweat patches as much as light blues and greys. At the other end of the colour spectrum, is also a great colour to sport if you're concerned or self-conscious about sweating.

Lifestyle Tips

Wear High-Quality Antiperspirant

Another option is to use high-standard antiperspirant in conjunction with the treatment solutions we've listed above. If your usual antiperspirant isn't working, there are options out there for the most severe cases of hyperhidrosis.

For other antiperspirant solutions not covered in this guide, take a look at our wide selection of products for combatting excess perspiration.

Eat Well

Once you've got your clothes and antiperspirant sorted, the last thing you might want to look at is your diet. Learn what foods are a trigger for you, while following recommended guidelines about what you can and can't eat when it comes to food.

Sweating and Maintaining a Balanced Lifestyle

Sugar, salt, fats and high-carb foods can all contribute to issues with body temperature and sweating. Fatty foods with a high sugar content such as chocolate can all have a thermic effect, while carbohydrates are known to cause sweating shortly after eating them.

How Does Fluid Intake Affect Hyperhidrosis?

Alcohol can increase your heart rate and dilute the blood vessels in your skin, which increases body heat and causes your natural body-cooling system (sweating) kicks in. If you're prone to a pint with your lunch, we'd recommend you steer clear.

Stop Sweating Spray
02 April 2021  |  13:50

Summer time is good if you want to lose weight and I am working out in the gym, but the issue is I sweat a lot and even in the office my shirts are covered in sweat. I will wear natural blends and wear the dark colors as you said. I also use the anti sweat spray which helps to control excessive sweat for a week, but I recently started using it and I wanted a good solution for my shirts as it fades quickly due to sweat. Your post is very helpful. I will try these ways. Thank you so much.
