Who Can Use the MalleoLoc L3 Ankle Brace?

The Bauerfeind MalleoLoc L3 is the ideal choice for protecting unstable ankles against excessive strain. The adjustable design makes the brace ideal for both people who are recovering from sprain and people with chronic ankle issues who may require a different level of support depending on their condition.

Which Size Do I Need?

The Bauerfeind MalleoLoc L3 is available in six different sizes that are suitable for most users. To find your perfect size, please measure the circumference of your ankle (as shown in the image below) and match your measurement to the table below.

How Does the MalleoLoc L3 Brace Work?

The MalleoLoc L3 Support can be adjusted during your treatment and recovery a total of three times, removing the need for you to purchase multiple braces. As your injury recovery progresses, you'll find that the level of support and stabilisation that you require starts to decline, and you can adapt the L3 Brace to meet your needs. You can adapt the brace in the following ways:

• Full Support and Stability: An anatomically shaped L shell is positioned on the lower leg above the support and in front of the lateral malleolus before extending across the instep. This is then fastened to the lower leg and foot using two non-elastic Velcro straps which can prevent incorrect movements in your ankle that can cause strains. While you are using the shell and straps, muscle compression activation will be integrated, which can improve your circulation and lead to a faster recovery time.
• Less Stabilisation, Plenty of Support: If you don't require the same level of stability, you can remove the shell and continue with a lower strap. This strap will prevent straining through its support, but allow for more natural movement in your foot.
• Less Stabilisation, Less Support: Finally, you can use your brace without the lower strap where the support will offer indirect stabilisation due to its massage effect during movement. It will activate your muscles, leading to better movement and coordination.

Will the Bauerfeind L3 Ankle Support Fit in My Shoes?

The MalleoLoc L3 is designed with a one-sided plastic shell that is exclusively on the side of the lateral malleolus (the side of the ankle facing away from the body). By reducing the shell to one side of the ankle only, the support has a slim design that can fit in a wide selection of shoes, including:

• Sports shoes
• Football boots

• Narrow work shoes

Will the L3 Ankle Support Be Comfortable in My Shoes?

The MalleoLoc L3 Brace won't actually work to its fullest capabilities unless it is used in your shoes. This is how the brace provides the level of support that it does. The integrated support and shell are thin and ergonomically shaped for your feet, meaning that they should fit comfortably inside sports shoes and even business shoes.

Can I Wear the L3 Ankle Support While Playing Sport?

We would generally recommend that you wear the L3 Brace when you are out of the house or on the move. While we wouldn't suggest that you use the brace for more active sport, you can use the brace for minor sporting activities that you might be doing during your recovery. This can include light running and sports such as badminton and golf.

How Should I Care for My Brace?

Washing your ankle brace regularly helps to maintain the shape and efficacy of the brace. To aid in this, the MalleoLoc L3 can be machine washed with the following instructions:

• Remove all removable straps and fasten all non-removable Velcro securely
• Machine wash in cold water using a gentle or delicate cycle
• Wash separately using a detergent with no additives
• Do NOT use fabric softener
• Lay the support flat and let it air-dry
• Do NOT put the brace in a dryer
