Rolyan Pre-Formed Resting Pan Mitt Splint with Strapping

The Rolyan Pre-Formed Resting Pan Mitt Splint with Strapping is designed for positioning hands that are suffering from arthritis or mild hypertonicity. It positions the wrist and hand to help relieve pain and discomfort, and is available in a choice of sizes for a more accurate fit.

How Does the Splint Work?

The splint positions the wrist and hand at approximately 10° of wrist extension, 5° of ulnar deviation, 45° of metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint and and proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint flexion, as well as 20° distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint flexion. The thumb is at 45° of extension midway between radial and palmar abduction.

Adjusting the Splint

The splint is made from low-temperature thermoplastic materials, which can be modified for a custom fit by a healthcare professional. This will help to enhance the quality of the fit for the individual patient where ongoing treatment is required. Having a more bespoke fit can help to improve the treatment received by catering specifically to the needs of the wearer.

Sizing of the Splint

The splint is available for both the right and the left hand, with a choice of three sizes for a more accurate fit. To determine the size required, measure the width between the second and third MCP joints, or the knuckles closest to the base of the fingers.
