Water-Jel Burn Dressings provide fast, one-step relief for emergency first aid when someone has been burned. The dressing stops burn progression and cools the skin, relieves pain and protects against airborne contamination.

Water-Jel Burn Dressings are made with a scientifically formulated cooling gel and utilize medical-grade nonwoven pads. They are non-adherent so they will not stick to burn injuries. The dressings are soaked in a water-based / water-soluble, bacteriostatic and biodegradable gel and sterilized to ensure a contamination-free atmosphere for emergency treatment of burns.

With Water-Jel Burn Dressings, it takes no special training to give fast and effective emergency burn care for any type of burn injury.

When a burn occurs, seconds count. Water-Jel products are effective, versatile and approved for emergency first aid burn treatment in a pre-hospital setting. Water-Jel products are consistent with both wet and dry burn treatment protocols since they stop the burning process, cool the burned area, relieve pain, prevent further injury and do not contribute to hypothermia or interfere with debridement (removal of damaged tissue or foreign objects from a wound). There are no active ingredients, and the water-soluble gel can be easily washed off at a hospital or burn center.

Water-Jel is scientifically designed to draw the heat out of a burn. The heat energy is spread over the whole gel surface because the material conforms to the uneven burn surface. At the outer surface of the gel, the heat is released by transfer into the air. The buffer effect of the Water-Jel layer leads to rapid heat transfer out of the burn wound without losing temperature around the area of usage.

Water-Jel is primarily composed of deionized water, thickened to help it stay in place, and a small amount of Tea Tree Oil, a natural bacteriostatic. Ingredients are listed on the package along with a Total Body Surface Area percent guide for adults and children according to the size of the dressing. Water-Jel Sterile Burn Dressings, Fire Blankets and gel are safe in the eyes and mucous membranes. Water-Jel bears a five-year shelf life from date of manufacture, even at temperatures up to 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

COOLING BURNS THE RIGHT WAY—WITH WATER-JEL

Water-Jel Burn Dressings are a gelatinized water mix designed to perform the four critical steps for burn management in one application. Because of their gelatinous nature, they seal the burn from further contamination, they cool the burn site and relieve pain by heat transfer into themselves, and the fluids on the burn site cannot soak into the dressing nor can they evaporate through them. And finally, as the burn site cools down, the dressing warms up, leaving the site covered by a warm dressing, helping to prevent hypothermia.

Water-Jel Burn Dressings will absorb temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees F—extremely important when you consider that human bone carbonizes at 1400 degrees F and other dressings could melt into the site. With Water-Jel, there is plenty of extra gel to use on any hyperemic or stasis sites surrounding the main burn, and the gel can be left on for more than four hours.
