Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis

The Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis provides thumb abduction control and finger flexion control

The Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis Flex-E-Core technology therefore easy to form and remould.

The Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis maintains fingers in extension and includes extra cover and removable finger separators. It is made with a moisture wicking, washable, synthetic lambs wool liner.

The Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis is ideal for the following conditions

  • Multiple Sclerosis MS
  • Maintains WHF in functional position
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis RA
  • Hypertonic contractures
  • Cerebral Vascular Accident CVA

How to use the Leeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis

  1. Remove the splint from the package and open hook and loop closures
  2. Place hand on the splint. Check the wrist area to ensure that the splint is at the necessary degree of extension. Adjust if necessary to fit by bending the wrist portion of the splint over the edge of a bed, table or other object
  3. Check the thumb placement. If necessary, bend the thumb portion to fit
  4. First, fasten the hook and loop closure over the wrist. Check that the strap is secure but not too tight by placing one finger between the arm and the strap
  5. Fasten the hook and look closure over the forearm. Check that the strap is secure but not too tight by placing one finger between the arm and the strap
  6. Bring the hook and loop closure over the back of the hand between the MP and IP joints. Wrap the strap around and fasten underneath. Check that the strap is secure but not too tight by placing one finger between the hand and the strap.
  7. Wrap the thumb strap comfortably around the thumb to hold thumb in place. Fasten the hook end to the strap. Check that it is not too tight. Re-check the hand, fingers and thumb for correct positioning

Care Instructions for theLeeder Rest Hand Positioning Orthosis

  • Cover: Remove cover from splint. Fasten all hook and loop closures. Place in mesh laundry bag provided and machine wash at 40° 5. Air dry. Do not use heat
  • Flex-E-Core:Clean with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly. Completely dry with a soft cloth .

Please note that this item may be provided with a sheepskin surface for extra comfort.

After 10 years of trying various orthotic aids and pressure gloves for my rheumatoid arthritis this one is by far the most effective and surprisingly comfortable. Thank you .

hand rest

The spare cover is for the left and so not much use. it is rather bulky so he has to take it off to change clothes. He enjoys wearing it and his hand can sit in a more normal position. He likes the finger separator but I feel that it could easily get lost which would be a shame
